Starting today, you will be able to apply for Surge all year round. As soon as the applications for one batch close, the next batch will open immediately on the following day. So you can apply to Surge at any point – and you’ll hear back within a specific time frame.

We designed Surge to help make things easier for early stage founders – from raising funds to hiring great talent, and accessing hands-on mentorship as they build their companies.
We want to make the process of applying to Surge more founder-focused, too.
So we’ve created an application guide that you can download here to walk you through the process. And you can apply for Surge at any point during the year.
There are two Surge cohorts every year, and the program runs over 16 weeks. As soon as the applications for one batch close, applications for the next batch will open immediately on the following day. We process those applications on a rolling basis, and founders receive their Surge round up front.
Surge 03 2019 began a month late due to COVID-19. We moved the program completely online and adapted the experience considerably. We will be hosting our next UpSurge on Zoom in September, a few weeks later than originally scheduled.
The Surge founder NPS, which is our north star metric, continues to be terrific. We have really enjoyed working with founders in the new format and are delighted to see their progress. With the safety of our founders and teams being paramount, we’re planning on Surge 04 being online as well.
Given these changes, we will now start Surge 04 in November 2020. We’ve already partnered with seven startups for the next cohort and some of the rounds are already wired. We have extended the deadline for Surge 04 applications to September 18, 2020 to allow founders more time to apply.
